Hardlight continues to support the game with updates, additional characters, and features. Although the game received mixed reviews, Sonic Dash reached 500 million downloads in September 2021. Selection of the game for development came from the insistence of parent company Sega Sammy Holdings president and COO Haruki Satomi. Hardlight, a British development studio owned by Sega, began developing Sonic Dash after completing Sonic Jump. Rings, which can be earned through gameplay or purchased in app, allow access to upgrades and additional characters. Players can compete for higher positions on leaderboards. In mission mode, players must complete objectives. The goal of Sonic Dash is to avoid obstacles and enemies while collecting rings. It was initially released as a paid application, but was made free-to-play a month after its iOS release.
Sonic dash windows#
The game was released in March 2013 for iOS, November 2013 for Android, and December 2014 for Windows Phone and Windows, along with an arcade release in November 2015 as Sonic Dash Extreme. It is Hardlight's second Sonic the Hedgehog game, the first being 2012's Sonic Jump. There is a Team Play mode to race with up to three characters.Sonic Dash is a 2013 endless runner mobile game developed by Hardlight and published by Japanese game studio Sega. New tickets are provided every few hours. There are also separate, temporary challenges such as Ring Rush!, Badnik Blitz! and Orb Rush! Unlike the main mode these use an energy/stamina system based on tickets to play them. Runs in succession are encouraged through missions that provide bonuses after completing them. The game is free-to-play with in-game advertisements and in-app purchases for both currencies, revives and tickets. After a certain level they can be combined to evolve them. Just like characters they can be upgraded and it is possible to sell them as well. Some are one-time use while others are consumable or permanent. One is provided every few hours and they can also be bought using rings. Sprites act as a companion and are a new game element.
Sonic dash upgrade#
Rings are the basic currency and are used to upgrade characters, usually affecting the score multiplier.

During this section the device needs to be tilted for control. There are grinding sections and jump pads that launch the character in the air for a short flight section based on the Enerbeam without enemies and only items. The character then runs at a much faster speed and is invincible for a short time, also identical to the first game.
Sonic dash full#
By collecting orbs a boost meter is filled and boost can be activated when it is full by double tapping. Exits can be ignored, but the next sections are immediately harder and offer more rewards. The character then enters a tunnel, banks the rings and the player get to choose between all available characters to continue the run. This is no longer done by jumping on springs, but by following an exit when it is available. Similar to the first game it is possible to bank rings at specific moments during runs. When a character is hit all rings are lost and when falling down or hitting an enemy without rings the run is over immediately. Sonic for instance activates a ring magnet to collect rings from all three lanes simultaneously when in dash mode, Amy has a hammer and Knuckles can use a move that defeats enemies in all three lanes by swiping up and down quickly in succession.ĭuring levels, the characters collect rings and temporary power-ups such as a shield or a ring magnet. It is gathered slowly by locating red rings in levels or through an in-app purchase. The remaining characters are acquired by spending red rings, the premium currency. Sonic is available from the start and an additional one can be unlocked almost right away. The playable characters are Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna and Sticks the Badger. Similar to the first game the vertical swipes are also used as attacks to defeat enemies. Swiping up is used to jump and down to roll and pass through low passages. There are three lanes and a character is moved by swiping left or right. Just like the original game a character that runs automatically needs to be guided through an endless, randomized environment, avoiding obstacles, collecting items and defeating enemies. It has similar gameplay, but now the cast and the levels are based on the Sonic Boom television series. Sonic Dash 2: Sonic Boom is the sequel to the third-person endless runner Sonic Dash.
