Her storyline was good and I wish we'd been able to see more of her. I chose to let her go at the first choice prompt because in real life you can't afford to hesitate in a situation like that and I wanted to save Elle more, but that look of betrayal she gave hurt.
I mean, she wasn't nice or anything and she constantly questioned them, but she stuck with them and didn't try to stop them from destroying other worlds.
I think she did understand that the party destroyed her dimension because they had to, which is why she didn't completely hate them. She had every right to be pissed off at everyone, and I think she actually dealt with it a lot better than I would have. You're right, she really was dealt a crappy hand. I wouldn't say that I liked Alt Milla more than regular Milla, but I did find her very interesting and couldn't feel happy about regular Milla returning. I've seen lots of people who outright cheered when she died, especially because Milla Maxwell comes back and that's just baffling to me. It's just unfair all around and I hate that the fandom gives her a lot of flak for a lot of things that just aren't really her fault. For all intents and purposes, Ludger is the one deciding her fate because he can't pull her up so she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. (And the only other company she has is Elle and Ludger and, as far as she's concerned, Ludger is the one who took everything away from her and destroyed her world without a second thought sooo.) Lashing out at everyone, which is what brings her so much hate in the fandom, is kind of the only thing she CAN do while she comes to terms with everything that's happening to her.Įven at the end when she makes the decision to sacrifice herself so Elle can be saved, it's not even really her decision. Her own will never matters-first in her own world, she was stuck pleasing Muzet all the time, then she's taken to the prime dimension where everyone keeps saying to her face "you're not acting like Milla :/". I really like Alt Milla, though, which is why I'm upset that she's mostly just used as a plot device and just gets the short end of the stick all the way through. (imo the game kind of falls apart after Chapter 11 which is probably why I prefer the writing and character interactions before that.) But even so, I found her personality was just a lot more interesting than Milla Maxwell's and I think her interactions with the party are much more interesting than Milla Maxwell's in X2. I LOVE Alt Milla's interactions when she's not being inappropriately mean in every situation, so I wish they'd actually spent more time developing her, especially for the amount of time we spend with her. Supposedly (it's in an interview in a guidebook that I don't own), when they were making her character they just made a list of anime tropes and picked one since they didn't expect her to have such a prominent role when they were writing the story. which isn't her intention, but it still makes it hard for me to warm up to her as a character.īut I wish Alt Milla wasn't so obviously tsundere. Especially in the English version, she comes across as rather cold. I preferred her over Milla Maxwell because I'm not really a fan of Milla M's stoicism.
